The film opens on the France Télévisions studio set, March 7, 2026: the show J'aime à Dire is about to begin. Ayachi steps onto the stage, takes a breath… Cut to black
Two months earlier. Five young orators, selected for the show, each prepare from within their own world.
Maël, 23, lives in Montpazier in the Dordogne. A long-time activist, he has forged a deep bond with the French language, but has just learned that he is bipolar and has a benign brain tumor. Emilia, a Marseille native by adoption and former Miss Alpilles, wants to move beyond the image of the pretty blonde and assert herself through words. Ayachi, 22, grew up in Nanterre in the shadow of a femicide; theater and writing rebuilt him. Wendy, a student from Strasbourg now based in Paris, dreams of a career in diplomacy despite near-crippling shyness and modest Vietnamese roots. Imrany comes from Mayotte; he wants to offer a different image of his island, too often reduced to violence and poverty.
The film follows them through their preparations: improv classes, public speaking coaching, slam open mics, visits to family. Each carries a wound, a dream, a language to conquer.
On the big day, they all converge on the studio. The speeches follow one another, interweaving and echoing across each other.
